Our jolly few begin at the Midnight Star saloon in the town of Darkhad. A largish town in the bowl of the tall grassland sea between the Vanir mountains and the Tieshan Steppes. Darkhad is the first and most prominent of all of the stonehouses on the silk road to Tieshan.
Currently it is the end of the dry season. Storms quickly pass over and through with little precipitation only threatening a deluge of water. Of greater danger, to the unwary at least, is the rolling lightning storms which can to strike without the obvious presence of rain to warn of its threat. Despite the threat of lightning the Tuigan common man prefers to live on the great plains in their yurts and picketing their horses, and living alongside the winds and the grass…. certainly more than living inside their mostly empty towns. Instead each of the stonehouses are used as places for their nobility to reside, their chieftains to meet in peace, and for foreign dignitaries to seek concessions, for traders and craftsmen to sell their wares, and for travelers to rest and spread the word of the lands beyond.
Darkhad is the site of a much expected wedding. A union of 4 roles which were prophesized to occur at the change of the season this year. All four of the great hordes have submitted their own chosen. All four have come to see which of their own will win the gods favor. What trials must they pass? Who has the lasting power to remain in the conflict? Who will the gods choose to become the new Khagan, the new Dayan, the new Nomarch, and the new sacrifice?
