An Empty Throne
The Nine Keys \\ The Church Triumphant
The Imperial Pantheon of the Church Militants and Triumphant of the Third Reformation, is often just shortened to ‘The Church Triumphant’ – when speaking about its ministerial interests; and referred to as the Imperial Pantheon when speaking about its diplomatic interests. The Church Triumphant consists of the most important and organized religious orders in the Central Empire.
The religion combines the different dogma often seemingly contradictory tenets of its 6 goddesses and 5 gods, into an underlying unity championing the cause of the chosen elite (those who have survived the Great Purge) collectively this faith is known as the Book of the Path. In Arkos, there is a cathedral in each of the prime cities, devoted to the Eleven Eidim. In the lesser towns and farms there are way-shrines that venerate all of the Divinities. It is important to note that the Eleven Eidim of the Church Triumphant appear in the pantheons of many cultures as mere Eidim. According to the ‘Followers of the Book’ – that these cultures also contain references to Mekatriag, Sefiroth, Hayoth, Ruach and Mala’ika – prove themselves to be heretical of the Sacred Sacrifice.
The greatest goal of the Church Triumphant is to bring liberation to those who seek spiritual freedom; forging the path to truth and the greater whole. To further this goal, Church Triumphant has become an Imperial Power, to spread the wisdom of the Eidim and the Ascended Masters. The Church respects free will of those who would be liberated and the cultural right to choose the best path toward belief which resonate in the heart and soul – the Church will not give up trying to guide each soul to its “Best Path”. The Church is steadfast in its determination to spread the message of spiritual righteousness to all who desire it …and they intend to continue until this mission is fulfilled. Their message is one of sacrifice for the greater glory, a positive message for personal transformation and renewal.
Their most central message is the resolution of the Creation War
The Creation War
There are histories which exist in the Archives of the Salamancan Pedagogy that are over two thousand years old. These histories state that while the Creation War started well before the creation of man, the war propelled the Age of Dreams to its cataclysmic end. The war was primarily waged between two factions of beings who practiced ‘Naming’. One group, called the Eidim, knew the names of all things, but lived in harmony, never exerting their mastery over them. The second group, known as Ruarch, took the art of naming a step further to change that which they knew the true names of, creating many new and wondrous things. These very separate and different ways of life eventually led to discord between the two factions.
Seeking a refuge to practice their skill unhindered – the Ruarch created the Far Realms. At the culmination of this feat, each Ruarch built a star which they then placed into the empty sky. However, unsatisfied with only a star the greatest Ruarch, Jax, used his ability to pull the Moon into his Far Realm, thus causing the phases now seen in the night sky.
It was this act that sparked the Creation War.
The Eidim were nearly defeated in this war, but through an act of great sacrifice by the Wisest Eidim, Aleph – the Champion of the Eidim Taws was able to defeat the great machine and shut the Ruach beyond all realities. Taws death and subsequent revival by Aleph, bolstered the hopes of the Eleven Eidim, turning the tide of the Creation War. After Cataclysmic Creation War ended, it was revealed that Taws revival was limited and the sacrificed energy which sustained Taws power came from Aleph’s own reservoir. Thus the two most powerful Eidim entwined by fate and time – ascended from this existence to the next. It is this dogma, the wisdom of the remaining Eleven Eidim, and the sacrifices of the Ascended Masters which are preached by the Church Triumphant to this day.
The Ascended Masters are those most iconic, mortal Battle-saints who have sacrificed themselves to push forward the cause of the Church Triumphant and protect their congregation – as did Aleph and Taws when they sacrificed themselves for the other Eleven Eidim.
