Instead of forcing every character to have to have trained all Knowledge skills to know basic daily lore, the mechanic of “Common Knowledge” is being introduced. The application of this mechanic allows everything most people know [the basic history of his land, common etiquette, where to avoid traffic, party games and dancing, who’s who locally, etc] will be available to you as well.

  • Standard Common Knowledge is the combination of [(Intelligence or Wisdom Modifier) + Charisma Modifier + 1].
    • Ex. 5th Level Farmer Bob, [(Int 12 or Wis 12)1 + (Cha 12)1 + 1 = 3] will know DC: 3 or less Common knowledge information
  • If a characters has access to Knowledge or Profession which is particularly relevant to the information gained, the GM may allow the user to add the ranks in those skills directly to general knowledge a character knows by default. [(Knowledge or Profession) + (Intelligence or Wisdom Modifier) + Charisma Modifier + 1].
    • Ex. 5th Level Farmer Bob , [Ranks in (Knowledge or Profession)5 + (Int 12 or Wis 12) 1+ (Chr 12)1 +1 = 8] will know DC: 8 or less Common knowledge information

As previously stated regular Knowledge or Profession checks are not subject to the Take 10/20 rules. except where stated by class ability.
This system only grants inexpert knowledge of various bits of game lore.
To render Expert Lore and much more complete answers to specific questions an actual Knowledge system must be engaged.
